About Carbon Fiber
Carbon fiber (also known as carbon fibre) is one of the strongest and most lightweight materials available on the market today. Five times stronger than steel and only one third its weight, carbon fiber composites are often used in aerospace and aviation, robotics, racing, and a wide variety of industrial applications.
Main Advantages of Carbon Fiber
Carbon fiber composites stand out from the crowd for several reasons. Here are a few:
- Lightweight – carbon fiber is a low density material with a very high strength to weight ratio.
- High tensile strength – one of the strongest of all commercial reinforcing fibers when it comes to tension, carbon fiber is very difficult to stretch or bend.
- Low thermal expansion – carbon fiber will expand or contract much less in hot or cold conditions than materials like steel and aluminium.
- Exceptional durability – carbon fiber has superior fatigue properties compared to metal, meaning components made of carbon fiber won’t wear out as quickly under the stress of constant use.
- Corrosion-resistance – when made with the appropriate resins, carbon fiber is one of the most corrosion-resistant materials available.
- Electrical conductivity – carbon fiber composites are an excellent conductor of electricity.
Only the best material
If we want to produce best Carbon fiber parts, we must choose only best material, so we do. Our Carbon fiber parts are produced out of best pre- impregnated “prepreg” fibers. We use next types of Carbon fiber:
- 200 Plain
- 160 Plain
- 245 Twill
- 430 Twill
All Carbon fibers that we use in production, are coated with special resin and we keep all our material stored in special cold stores with constant temperature below zero. As we are aware that every customer has his own wishes, we also adapt other material according to the product, while we are careful not to go below a certain standard. Our carbon fiber suppliers are long-standing partners with quality certificates.
Carbon fiber – material of future
Carbon fiber (also known as carbon fibre) stands out in the materials world as one of the strongest and most lightweight materials on the market. Five times stronger than steel and one third its weight, carbon fiber composites are ideal for any application that requires strength, durability, light weight and speed but most importantly - it reduces energy consumption. You’ll see it most commonly in aviation and aerospace, robotics, medical equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, race cars, boats and all kinds of sports equipment from paddles and racquets, and bicycles to kayaks. Carbon fibers supposed to be used only in higher class production, but slowly enters also to middle class range of products. Working with Carbon fiber is relatively expensive and has an intensive producing process.
Our technologists in Hive Carbon are continuously developing and testing procedures that allow us to compete in price and wider availability, and we therefore firmly believe that carbon fibers are the main material of the future.
